Congratulations, Class of 2020!
There Is Still So Much to Celebrate.
2020 will forever be known as the year of the plague. Our graduating seniors had to grow up quicker than most. Schools in Burlington County as well as the rest of New Jersey closed their doors in the middle of March, hoping to return to school within a few weeks.
Instead, these students whose studies were close to completion had to learn in a new, isolated environment. The only communication they had with their friends and teachers were online. Senior trips, theater, sports, proms, and even graduations were canceled if not scheduled in a non-traditional way.
And while most seniors in prior years had the opportunity to enjoy their last days of school before moving to a new, sometimes overwhelming experience, our class of 2020 was forced to say goodbye to the way of life they had known for 12 years through a computer.
But Enough Doom and Gloom.
The truth is that our schools in Mt. Laurel, Medford, Westampton, and other local towns do not teach children to become grief-stricken worriers. They teach children to become survivors and warriors. And our graduating classes of 2020 are nothing short of amazing. They are resilient.
They may mourn the loss of their senior year. But this class does not let these losses define them. Instead, they rise to the occasion and thrive in any environment. These young people are the future, and the future looks bright!
Celebrate the Future and Capture the Moments!
Take this moment to celebrate the future for these resilient young people. They will rise to the occasion, as they always have. They have taken a stand and made sure we heard them every step of the way.
It is time to celebrate the future of these young graduates. The next few months will be a time of transition for our local South Jersey graduates. Some will be leaving home for the first time. Some will be taking a year or more off to figure out who they are and what they want in life. All will be growing one step closer to adulthood.
There is so much more for these amazing young people to celebrate over the coming months. It is important to capture these moments. Then, when these graduates look back at their senior year of high school, they don’t remember the year of the plague. Instead, they recall the fantastic year and summer they had, despite Coronavirus.
I want to congratulate every graduate in the class of 2020 for their hard work, perseverance, and resilience through life. You deserve to conquest the world.
