What Moments To Capture While You Still Can
Blink and You'll Miss it!
Whether you are finishing high school or ending your college career, your senior year is in its final stretch. Over the next month or two, you will be graduating and moving onto your next journey. You may be taking a gap year. You may be entering a technical school or apprentice program. Maybe you are starting your first professional job (and if that's the case, be sure to have your professional headshot taken with Lisa!).
Whatever your next step may be, your current journey is coming to an end. There is so much to look forward to. Over the next two months, you will have your prom, award ceremonies, senior week, the last moments with your besties (those special people that helped you get through the last few years), college acceptances, and getting your first job offer, to name a few.
These moments only happen once. You never get a second chance to enjoy your first or last moments. It's time to make sure you have a plan in store to capture these memories for now and forever.
Prom, Senior Week, Graduation, OH MY!
The three most important events for a high school senior are prom, senior week, and graduation. These events are around the corner. Prom is within the next month. Male and female students get to dress in black tie attire and spend a night living it up with their friends. It can be one of the biggest events of a young person's life. And while there is often a photographer at the prom to take posed pictures, they are only capturing a brief moment. A professional photographer can capture the moments that really matter - getting ready, the group together, the amazing moments before your senior gets in their chariot and goes off to the ball.
Senior week is the time that follows prom. Seniors get the opportunity to live it up away from home. They get to celebrate their last nights of the pseudo freedom that come along with being 17 and 18 years old. While many seniors may not want every moment captured, a professional photographer can use this time to capture those last moments when best friends can hang out and be themselves. Those moments are almost more important that many other photos you have captured throughout the years.
Then, what you and your family have been working towards becomes a reality. Before you know it, you are standing in your cap and gown, ready to receive your diploma. You need to capture every second of this event. This is the event that made all the tears, screaming matches, late nights, and early mornings worth it. A professional photographer can capture the moments when the graduate is getting ready at home, with their family, and even moments with their friends and they prepare for their final leg of this piece of their journey.
Capturing the Moments of College Acceptance
Another amazing moment that must be captured is your senior's college or trade school acceptance. Once you know where they will go as they begin the next phase of their journey, you can breath a sigh of relief that they will be OK. They are on the right path to becoming productive members of society. And this next phase has so many exciting new opportunities and experiences.
Take the time to capture their excitement of beginning a new phase. Photos of your senior with college swag or their trade school/apprenticeship acceptance letters, will allow you to remember this moment of joy for years to come. These portraits will allow you to breathe a new sigh of relief and excitement every time you pass them.
Let's Not Forget Our College Seniors
College seniors should be honored as well. The past years of college have been some of the most difficult and exciting years of your college senior's life. Capturing the final moments of celebrations with their college friends, their teammates, the last moments on campus, and graduation are essential to helping you and your college senior remember the joys and excitements as well as the blood, sweat, and tears, that got your senior to this amazing moment. Many students start college. However, only a fraction of those students make it to graduation day. Capturing these moments is capturing the pride you and your senior have for being one of the small percentage of students that get to experience college graduation.
