5 Must Do Things Your Senior Year
Welcome to Senior Year...Class of 2024! 12 long years of learning and preparing for the next phase of life has almost come to an end. As exciting as starting your senior year may be, there will be moments where you will realize you are doing the last of something...the last school pep rally, the last homecoming dance, the last football game, the last school play, the last academic competition, the last school dance. Before you have your last day of school, make sure you treasure each moment with your friends and the life you have built over the past 12 years. Below is a list of the 5 must do things for your senior year.
1. Plan a Day to Visit Your Old Haunts (and possibly consider a portrait session at these!)
If you grew up in the same town or surrounding towns, you likely spent at least the last 12 years going to the same places (playground, restaurants, ice cream places, movie theaters, hiking trails, etc.). During your senior year, grab your friends and make sure you stop at these places, especially if you think you will be going away for school or a gap year after graduation. Make it a little more fun and capture these memories through a friends portrait session!
2. Have a Party/Sleepover/Big Group Outing
You and your closest friends may not be going in the same directions after graduation. Spend as much time as possible with them. Have one last big event (a party, as sleepover, a camping trip, etc.) before graduation to help create those amazing memories that will keep you coming back years in the future.
3. Take a Trip with Family
You may think, my family is always there. They aren't going anywhere. And yes they are going to be your family forever, But the dynamics of that relationship changes as you grow. This is the time to enjoy your family as they are. Spend as much time with them as you can. Take a day trip, a family vacation, or a family staycation. Those memories will help you get through that first year when you are not under the same roof every night.
4. Participate in Everything
You may not like school. You may think you do not care about school events or school spirit. And you may be right. However, if you do enjoy school events, do not skip any. You want your senior year to be filled with memories of things you loved. If not school events, participate in all the events you love. You are not too old, they are not lame, and you may regret skipping them because you are a senior.
5. Capture Every Moment
Your senior year should be a time to collect memories to last a lifetime. However, don't forget to capture these moments. Get senior portraits that show you in your element, with your friends, and in your favorite places. Take selfies. But also, take those photos of you enjoying your senior year with your friends, family, and pets. There will not be another chance to capture these moments.
