The Dos and Don'ts of Corporate Headshots
Corporate headshots are part of your branding. Your headshot is how the world sees you. In many ways, it is your first impression. Therefore, you must make sure your headshot shows the world who you are in the way you want to be seen.
To make sure your corporate headshot shows the best side of you, we have compiled a small list of dos and don'ts for your corporate headshots. Read on to learn more.
DO Be Natural
People think they need to show a made up side of themselves to the world. However, this cannot be further from the truth. People want to do business with people they trust. They don't want to business with a person that seems unapproachable and unrealistic. The best way to combat this concept of appearing unapproachable so to appear real and natural. Wear natural makeup and clothes that you would wear on any given workday. Be you.
DON'T Be Too Colorful
Colors are beautiful. However, too much color (or patterns) can be distracting. It can send the wrong impression. It can say that you are flighty and not focused. Choose a color pattern and stick with it. Make sure it is not too colorful. Bright is fine. Too many colors may be a bit overkill.
DO Smile
A smile is inviting. It is warm. It shows you are human. Make sure you smile in your corporate headshots. You don't need to overdo it. No need to look like the Joker. However, a nice, natural smile will invite someone to explore your profile and your business.
DON'T Be Too Serious
Have fun! Business should not be all work and no play. While you need to remain professional you can certainly have fun with your corporate headshots. Having fun means that you can try a different environment for your headshot. You can try a fun new fashion. Maybe spice up your look with some fun accessories. Don't be too outrageous. However, you can have some fun and let your personality shine through.
DO Use a Professional Photographer
Cutting corners on your corporate headshot will show that you cut corners in business. It sends the wrong message. Therefore, leave the selfie stick at home. Work with a professional headshot photographer to make sure your headshots come out perfect!
