Needs a New Headshot
Many of us will update our corporate headshots every few years to simply update their look and keep it fresh and current. Sometimes, individuals will wait many years to update their headshot (even though years is too long to wait in my opinion).
However, when a person changes their professional outlook, such as returning from a sabbatical, starting a new side business, or changing job and careers, they need to update their branding images to showcase their new professional outlook. A new headshot can show the growth and changes that occur when you make a big change to your professional life.
Read about two people who did just that: changed their professional outlook. I had the amazing opportunity to work with each of them to showcase their new outlook and new career with updated headshots.
Meet Anthony LaSala of Voo Doo Iron
Anthony is an IT guy. He has worked in IT for his entire adult life. As a matter of fact, he still does. However, Anthony has a love for art and restoration projects. Anthony grew up restoring cars and furniture, always being taught to look at something as what it could be versus what it looks like now. However, as an adult, he realized he loved to reimagine items. He took this love and his ability to work with items others may consider trash and created beautiful iron pieces that he sells at his shop, Voo Doo Iron, at the Shoppes at Medford Mill.
Anthony uses scrap metal and reimagines them into beautiful sculptures. He taught himself to wield and studied how other artists approached their art. As aa result, he was able to develop his own style and voice through his artwork.
Anthony has a true passion for, as he says it, "marrying art glass to metal sculpture yielding some interesting challenges and interesting pieces." He taught himself how to weld through trial and error and, of course, watching YouTube videos. He studied other artists to see how they approach their art, and has developed his own style and his own voice through his artwork. Anthony has loved evolving through each piece. He tries not to duplicate the pieces. Each is a one off and has his attention to detail. These pieces are not designed to be fine art. They are built to reflect the imperfection and rawness of working with steel and making mistakes. If people are looking for perfection, there are many other places they can shop. He would love to have you visit his shop in Medford at the Shoppes at Medford Mill.
He needed to showcase his new passion and love for his craft in his headshots. We worked together to find the perfect way of showcasing this creative side of him while still showcasing his professionalism.
Meet Bernie Davis of Jones Davis Group
Bernie Davis has been in the corporate world for over 25 years. She works with companies as an Human Resources Consultant, transforming their Human Resources Operation with expertise in design and implementation of global HR service delivery models that enhance the employee experience and provide tools that enable them to manage their workforce effectively and efficiently. Four years ago, Bernie opened her own consulting firm, Jones Davis Group, LLC. She loves what she does, however, she knew she needed a break.
Over the summer of 2022, Bernie was getting ready to send her daughter off to college while preparing her home for her husband and herself to become empty nesters. Sending your child away to college is never easy - for parents. As much as Bernie was sure her daughter would blossom, she also knew her daughter needed to know her mother was there as she found her footing.
Therefore, Bernie decided to take a sabbatical for an undetermined timeframe. She wanted and needed to be available for her daughter, her husband, and herself. As her daughter began to find her footing and become more independent toward the end of her first trimester, Bernie knew it was time to think about getting back to work.
However, a person changes during a sabbatical. Bernie found a new meaning to life and her work. She wanted to showcase this new outlook through new headshots. She immediately called me and we began working to showcase her new outlook as she returned to the corporate world and ended her sabbatical. For more information on Bernie, visit her LinkedIn profile.
Conclusion
Anthony and Bernie are two of the many stories that I have encountered over the years. People change jobs, begin new endeavors, and have a changed outlook throughout their entire career. Each of these individuals needed new and refreshed corporate headshots to showcase the new person they had become. These headshot experiences can be fun and exciting for them as well as for me. They are showcasing a fresh start.
